How can end-users change their Active Directory passwords in GateKeeper?
The following article provides four different workflow scenarios/cases for how to change a user's AD passwords in GateKeeper. Cases 1 and 2 detail the workflow for end-users, and Cases 3 and 4 detail the option for Hub administrators.
Case 1: Active directory password has expired, and the user must choose a new one.
1. User attempts to log in with their GateKeeper PIN for their token.
2. Message says the password must be changed before signing in.
- User types in the old password and the new password in the second field.
4. Message will state that the password update has been completed successfully. This will also sync the new password with the GateKeeper Hub server and database.
- The user is redirected to the GateKeeper login screen to enter their PIN and log in.
- The user types in the PIN, and the computer unlocks.
Case 2: The administrator changes the user’s password in Active Directory and gives the new password to the user.
1. The user tries to log in with GateKeeper.
2. Message states that the user’s password in GateKeeper is incorrect.
3. The user types in the new password that the administrator has provided.
4. The user gets logged in to the computer, and the new password is synced with GateKeeper Hub. Done!
Case 3: The administrator changes the password in Active Directory and then uses GateKeeper Hub to update the user’s profile.
1. First, update the password in your active directory.
2. Now, GateKeeper Hub administrators update the password for the user in GateKeeper Hub with the new AD password. Now, the user logs in to their computer using their GateKeeper without having to do anything else. Done!
Case 4: The administrator changes the user’s AD password directly in GateKeeper Hub without having to first change it in AD.
**Requires a GateKeeper Ultimate subscription and AD Management to be enabled. Please click here to set up your AD with GateKeeper.
1. The administrator types in a new AD password in the GateKeeper user’s profile on the Hub. This will automatically update the user’s password in AD.
2. The user logs in to their computer using their GateKeeper without having to do anything else.
