In-Vehicle Laptops for Firefighters - GateKeeper Proximity Setup.
GateKeeper Proximity easily configures to work with your existing workflow. For firefighter professionals, below are several examples, best practices, and optimal settings for using GateKeeper tokens on your laptops and Toughbooks.
- Make sure your USB sensor and GateKeeper token are in line of sight to keep your workstation unlocked while in the vehicle.
- 2FA: Make sure your users are logging in with their token (factor 1) and their PIN (factor 2) to meet 2FA requirements.
- GateKeeper will automatically set up each workstation's lock and unlock range. If you need to reset your range, just start the automatic Range setup button on your laptop.
- Make sure to keep your GateKeeper token with you at all times to prevent token loss/theft.
- Just in case your laptop locks while you're working on it, consider adjusting some advanced settings on the GateKeeper software on your laptop.
- The GateKeeper token is water-resistant, but make sure to protect your GateKeeper from the elements.
- Admins: you can set up a backup OTP login for users that do not have their token on them but need to login to their laptops.
- Users: Set up your backup login for when you don't have your token but need to login to your computer.
