For Windows 7 computers, locking the computer prevents a different user from accessing it with their GateKeeper PIN. Users MUST click "Switch User" on the login screen to close out the current user's session and then the new user can type in their PIN to log in with their GateKeeper token.
In order to skip this extra step on the login screen, GateKeeper can be configured to automatically switch users while locking the computer. This will allow any new user to directly type in their PIN on the login screen and log on to their own account on Windows 7 machines.
Solution:
To enable "Switch User" on a Windows 7 PC, please follow these steps:
1. Open your GateKeeper Client application on your PC by pressing the Windows key on your keyboard and start typing "GateKeeper".
2. Click Settings on the lower left corner.
3. Expand the Lock Settings section.
4. Change the default selections for both Proximity Lock Method and Button Lock Method from "Lock Workstation" to "Disconnect Session (Switch User)."
After making these changes, the software will automatically save the new settings.
Now, when the currently connected user walks away from the computer, or clicks the action button on the GateKeeper token, it will disconnect that current user's session and present the GateKeeper PIN entry option on the login screen. A new user can now type their PIN and log in to their own account on the Windows 7 machine.
