Remember Previous User
"Remember Previous User" is a feature that GateKeeper can set to automatically unlock the computer if the user returns to the same computer within the Remember Previous Login Timeout period. Only applicable when the Unlock Method is set to GateKeeper with PIN Login. (2FA: Token/Card plus PIN)
Default Setting: it's set to ON with 5 minutes
Recommended setting: 0 Min / Set on Hub
Note:
- Admins can specify the length in seconds, minutes, or hours
- In GateKeeper Proximity, the "Remember Previous User" feature only works during the same Windows session, meaning as long as the computer remains powered on.
- If the computer is restarted or shut down, Windows resets its session memory, and GateKeeper can no longer remember the previous user. After a reboot, users must manually authenticate again.
- Additionally, this feature only functions when the PC is locked through proximity detection. If the computer locks due to a button press or inactivity timer, GateKeeper will not automatically unlock the computer upon return — it will only auto-unlock when a proximity-based lock is triggered.
However, you can speed up the auto-unlock by increasing the Unlock Range under the Unlock Settings for the Group. How to adjust the auto-unlock range.
