GateKeeper locks your computer when you press the action button on the token. On your hardware token (GateKeeper Halberd), it's the button on the right side. If you are using your phone as your soft token, it is the green "Lock" button at the bottom of the GateKeeper Trident app:
The Button Lock Method setting allows you to choose the method of locking your computer when you click the button on the GateKeeper token.
There are four options for locking a computer via button click.
1. Disabled: This disables the button from locking the computer.
2. Lock Workstation: This option will lock the computer but keep all the user's programs running. It is similar to hitting the Windows key + L key on Windows machines. This option is suitable when there is only a single user on the computer.
3. Disconnect Session (Switch User): This option will lock the computer and disconnect the current user's session on Windows machines. This will allow another user to access their own account quickly after they authenticate using their own GateKeeper token. This method is similar to the "Switch User" option in Windows and macOS. This option is best when there are multiple users accessing the computer.
4. Transparent Screen Lock: When a user's session is active, they can lock their computer screens while keeping their desktop visible in the background. Attempting to edit any information on the screen immediately locks the computer.
5. Logout: This option will log out the currently connected user when their token goes out of range. This will close all running programs and ready the computer for the next user to log in.
To get to the Button Lock Method option from the Client's computer, follow the instructions below to have the user connect their token:
1. Open the GateKeeper Client application by pressing the Windows key and typing 'GateKeeper', after opening the software, navigate to the Settings tab.
2. In Settings, click the dropdown next to Button Lock Method and select Lock Workstation.
