By default, GateKeeper Proximity only locks the local computer where the GateKeeper Client is installed. When a user walks away with their token or Bluetooth device, GateKeeper detects their absence and locks that specific local machine.
Can GateKeeper Lock a Remote Machine?
GateKeeper cannot directly lock a remote computer that the user is connected to via RDP (Remote Desktop Protocol) or similar remote access tools. However, there is an optional setting to help manage remote sessions securely.
Disconnect Remote Session on Lock
If a user connects to another machine via RDP from a GateKeeper-managed computer, GateKeeper can be configured to disconnect the remote session when the local computer locks—provided the remote machine is running the GateKeeper Remote application.
To enable this feature:
-
Log in to GateKeeper Hub as an admin.
-
Go to Groups & Settings.
-
Select the desired user group.
-
Open the Lock Settings tab.
-
Enable “Disconnect remote session on lock.”
-
Save your changes.
