What is a rechargeable GateKeeper™ Token?

GateKeeper Halberd Tokens are physical, electronic hardware security keys used to authenticate users into computers, websites, desktop applications, VPNs, and other accounts. It comes in either a rechargeable version using a USB-C cable or a battery-powered version using a CR-2450 coin cell battery. There are various use-cases that require one or the other version to best fit a customer's workflow.

Does the Halberd token use USB-C or Micro USB to recharge?

The GateKeeper Halberd token uses USB-C to recharge. USB-C provides a faster recharging time, averaging about 15 minutes to full charge.

Does the Halberd token come with a USB-C cable?

Yes, all GateKeeper rechargeable tokens will come with a 3-ft USB-C cable for the user's charging convenience. 

How long does a charged Halberd token last?

The average fully charged token will last 2 weeks.

How long does it take to charge a token?

The GateKeeper token takes about 10 minutes to fully charge using USB-C.

Can my organization use both battery and rechargeable tokens?

Yes, you can use both battery-powered and rechargeable tokens on the same network. Just make sure to have enough CR2450 batteries onsite.

How many token types does the GateKeeper have?

GateKeeper proximity has two tokens: The GateKeeper Halberd hardware token and the GateKeeper Trident software token.

Difference between rechargeable tokens and battery-powered tokens?

Rechargeable tokens use a USB-C cable to recharge the battery and they have a switch to turn on/off next to the charging port.

Battery-powered tokens use a coin cell battery, when the battery dies simply replace the battery.

Does the token charge with a wireless charger?

No, the Gatekeeper rechargeable token can be charged by USB-C cable.

Is the token waterproof?

It is a water-resistant token.

Does the token work while charging?

Yes, GateKeeper rechargeable tokens are working while they are charging.

How to check the remaining battery level of the token?

To check the battery status on the GateKeeper Halberd, press and hold the action button on the side for 3-4 seconds. The Halberd will beep and the LED will flash green if the battery is good.

Does the token have a power switch?

Yes, a switch to turn on/off is next to the charging port.
