Using other Bluetooth devices alongside GateKeeper Proximity.
Yes, you can use a third-party USB Bluetooth sensor with your computer for GateKeeper, as long as it functions as a Standard Windows Bluetooth dongle. To verify compatibility, you can check your system's Device Manager for the Microsoft Bluetooth LE Enumerator.
While many Windows-compatible Bluetooth dongles may work with GateKeeper, please note that we cannot guarantee compatibility with all third-party sensors. For the best performance and reliability, we recommend using GateKeeper’s dedicated USB Bluetooth sensors, which are specifically designed and tested for the GateKeeper Proximity solution.
Please follow the steps below to check the Device Manager for a Microsoft Bluetooth LE Enumerator.
1. Click the Windows Key and type Device Manager in the blank field.
2. In the Device Manager window, expand the Bluetooth section.
3. Insert the USB BLE sensor into an available USB port and look for Microsoft Bluetooth LE Enumerator. If you do NOT see Microsoft Bluetooth LE Enumerator listed, then your 3rd-party BLE sensor will not work with GateKeeper.
- Microsoft Bluetooth LE Enumerator: This specifically deals with Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE) devices. It's responsible for managing connections and communication with devices that utilize Bluetooth Low Energy technology, often found in newer devices like fitness trackers, smartwatches, health monitors, and IoT (Internet of Things) devices. Bluetooth LE is designed for low power consumption, ideal for devices that need to operate with minimal battery impact.
