Why is AD (and Azure) integration with GateKeeper useful?
By integrating GateKeeper Hub with the organization’s Active (or Azure) Directory, Hub administrators can do the most common tasks of managing domain accounts directly from the GateKeeper Hub website. If you want to reset someone’s domain password, you can do so easily from the Hub without logging on to the Domain Controller. Admins can use the AD management feature to set complex passwords for all their AD users without even telling the users what their AD passwords are. Since the users are using GateKeeper for authentication, they do not need to know their AD passwords at all. Onboarding is simplified and quicker because the user profiles are imported and prefilled from the active directory. Finally, revoking access for employees leaving the organization is simplified because now you can not only remove the GateKeeper tokens from a user’s profile, but you can also disable the user’s AD account through the Hub.
How does GateKeeper work with Active (and Azure) Directory?
With GateKeeper Hub, administrators can make instant changes to users, PCs, passwords, and tokens. GateKeeper Hub can only make changes to the AD accounts that have been registered with GateKeeper users or assigned to computers in the GateKeeper Hub. Once a user is added to the Hub, the administrator can fetch the AD credentials associated with this user. At that point, the Hub can make changes to the user’s AD profile, such as resetting their password, unlocking their account, or disabling them. These tools are available on the Active Directory page on the GateKeeper Hub. Furthermore, Hub administrators can also create new accounts in Active Directory. This allows administrators to on-board new employees by giving them AD accounts and assigning them GateKeeper tokens simultaneously.
GateKeeper Enterprise supports On-Premise and Azure Active Directory and requires the GateKeeper Ultimate subscription plan. Once set up, the GateKeeper Hub dashboard can be accessed from any computer. Everything an admin needs, like provisioning new users and tokens and de-provisioning former employees' passwords and keys. It gives you the ability to
- Push global settings on all client computers
