Does GateKeeper work with Google Workspace?

Yes – GateKeeper can work with Google Workspace environments when Active Directory (AD) or Azure AD is used as the identity source and credentials are synced to Google Workspace.

GateKeeper Login to Workstations

GateKeeper logs in to Windows workstations by authenticating against Active Directory. The GateKeeper Credential Provider provides the OS with the AD login information similar to how a user would type in their AD username and password. Once the OS validates the credential, it logs in the user. From the computer's perspective, the login process is exactly the same as logging in with Windows username and password.

Windows Login and Google Workspace

Google workspace identity can be synchronized with on-premise and Azure Active directory. It is achieved by using the Google Cloud Directory Sync (GCDS) and Google Workspace Password Sync (GWPS). The purpose of these services is to enable a SSO type login to the Google workspace when a user logs in to their computer with their AD account. 

• Google Cloud Directory Sync (GCDS) – to synchronize users and groups from AD
• Google Workspace Password Sync (GWPS) – to keep AD and Google passwords in sync
