What does SQL Express cost?

SQL Express is free from Microsoft. SQL is required for using the on-premise version of GateKeeper Hub.

SQL Server Express Installation Procedure

When you execute the downloaded file, the installer will open a new window (image below).

In order to install any edition of SQL Server 2017 Express, first you must download the installer from the Microsoft and select your language.

That window offers three possible ways to install SQL Server Express Edition: Basic, Custom, and Download Media.

SQL Server Express Basic Installation

This is the easiest way to install SQL Server Express Edition. If you decide to use this option, you won’t be asked for any configuration information except for the destination path to install. Then the installer will download and install the product with the default settings and instance name SQLEXPRESS.

When the installation process finishes, you will see something similar to the following:

This completes the installation of SQL Server Express Edition. Click Close.
