Password Automation explained.
Password automation is a broad term to define the overall automation efforts surrounding passwords. Most common examples include password change automation - automating the changing of passwords on a predetermined schedule. The key reasons for password automation are ease of use and cost (time and productivity savings). Even training and awareness can be replaced with automation.
Many aspects of passwords can be automated including
- password creation
- secure password management (auto-filling)
- Password security (auto-locking account)
- password reset
- password strength monitoring
- password deprovisioning
- password sharing
- password policy enforcement
- password auditing
Some tasks, such as password deprovisioning, are best done through automation. Currently, if an employer leaves, the organization must now identify every password that user had access to and change them all. If the admin can see every credential issued to that employee on one screen and change them all, it is significantly faster and easier to do than manually finding every password.
GateKeeper Proximity is specifically designed to automate as much of the password workflow as possible for both admins and end users - saving much-needed time by reducing errors, increasing login speeds, and automating overall password usage.
