How Group Settings work in GateKeeper Enterprise.
A Group is how users are given access to computers. The Groups and Client Settings page allows you to set the authorization rules for GateKeeper. Groups are combinations of Users and Computers, where every user in the group has access to every computer in that group. Computers in the Organization group will be accessible to every GateKeeper user. If you want to give access to some computers to certain users, please put them in the same group. This page also allows you to choose client side settings to be applied to computers. The settings for a group will be applied to all computers in that group.
Groups can be based around user(s), computer(s), department, rooms - any dynamic grouping that organizations could need. If Jenny needs access to her desktop and laptop, then you would create a Group named "Jenny's work computers" and place user Jenny and her two computers named "Jenny - Laptop1" "Jenny - Laptop2" in the Group.
To add a User or Users to an existing Computer, please follow the steps below. Please remember that a User MUST be in the same GROUP as the Computer in order for the person to have access to that computer. Then, the User will have access to the newly added computer since they are all in the same Group.
You can also make a new Group with only one User and one Computer if that person only uses that one computer, or vice versa.
Create a new Group in GateKeeper.
Administrators can create new Groups with their own unique settings.
Log in to the GateKeeper Hub and go to "Group Settings".
Click + Add Group.
The Create a Group side panel window will appear. Enter the name and a description for it.
Assign computer(s) to the Group (minimum: one computer). Click Next.
Assign users to the Group. Click Next.
*Only users assigned to this Group can unlock the computers in the same Group.
If there are any changes you would like to make, click Previous.
Click Save Group to finish.
Select the checkbox for “Open Settings on Save” checkbox to change settings after.
The “Manage settings in Group [Group’s name]” side panel will appear. From here, you can set the controls for all the computers and users in this group. What proximity method, what lock method, special restrictions, advanced settings, and ability to make their own settings.
