Active Directory + GateKeeper Integration.
Yes. GateKeeper™ can use Microsoft Azure AD credentials for computer authentication. While registering the user or the Domain credential, please make sure to use the correct Azure AD domain name, and the proper username. In many cases, the username may actually be an email address. The best way to identify the domain name is to open command prompt and type the command "whoami". The first part of the answer is the domain name.
Why is AD integration with GateKeeper useful?
By integrating GateKeeper Hub with the organization’s Active Directory, Hub administrators can do the most common tasks of managing AD accounts directly from the GateKeeper Hub website. If you want to reset someone’s AD password, you can do so easily from the Hub without having to log on to the Domain Controller. Furthermore, resetting an AD password will automatically update it in the GateKeeper database too, thereby keeping it synchronized with AD. Admins can use the AD management feature to set complex passwords for all their AD users, without even telling the users what their AD password are. Since the users are using GateKeeper for authentication, they do not need to know their AD passwords at all. Finally, revoking access for employees leaving the organization is simplified because now you can not only remove the GateKeeper tokens from a user’s profile, but you can also disable the user’s AD account through the Hub.
How does GateKeeper work with Active Directory?
With GateKeeper Hub, admins can make instant changes to user, PCs, passwords, and tokens the on-premise Active Directory (AD). GateKeeper Hub can only make changes to the AD accounts that have been registered with GateKeeper users or assigned to computers in the GateKeeper Hub. Once a user is added to the Hub, the administrator can fetch the AD credential to be associated with this user. At that point, the Hub can be used to make changes to the user’s AD profile, such as reset their password, unlock their account, or disable the account. These tools are available on the Active Directory Management page on the GateKeeper Hub. Furthermore, Hub administrators can also create new accounts in Active Directory. This allows admins to on-board new employees by giving them AD accounts and assigning them GateKeeper tokens at the same time.
