Logging in with Proximity 2FA.
GateKeeper® Proximity 2FA authentication utilizes a user's token's distance from a Bluetooth sensor to determine presence on a continual basis. The GateKeeper token (Halberd hard token or Trident phone app) will be the first factor (possession-based authentication) and your PIN will be the second factor (knowledge-based authentication). With any GateKeeper unlock option, you can login password-free.
In order to log in to your computer and websites with proximity authentication, please follow these steps:
1. Open your GateKeeper Client application on your PC by pressing the Windows key on your keyboard and start typing "GateKeeper".
2. Click Settings in the lower left.
3. Under Unlock Settings, go to Unlock Method, and select GateKeeper with PIN Login in the dropdown menu to enable two-factor authentication (2FA).
Automatic Login: |
Proximity login - once the user is in the range of the computer, the user will be authenticated. |
Press Enter Key to Login: |
When the token is in range of the computer, pressing the Enter key will authenticate the user. |
Touch Login: |
Touch the token to the USB sensor to authenticate – just like an NFC card. |
GateKeeper with PIN Login: |
2FA method: Requires the presence of a GateKeeper token and typing of a secret PIN to authenticate. |
Welcome to authentication without typing passwords - efficient workflow for all employees. Now your key will enable passwords to auto-fill so users can type a short PIN and login quickly using 2FA.
Set 2FA for multiple computers through the Hub admin console
2FA in GateKeeper is set by Groups. All computers in the same Group will be subject to the same configurations for locking, unlocking, and password complexity. If you have users that only use their own computer, then create a new Group for that user with their computer (with no other users).
1) Login to the GateKeeper Hub.
2) Click Group Settings on the left side.
3) Find the Group containing the user and computer you would like to enforce 2FA on and click "Manage Settings" to the right of the Group's name. If you wish to make your 2FA requirement global for all users on your network, click Organization.
4) Click UNLOCK SETTINGS tab.
5) Next to Unlock Method, click the dropdown and select the option GateKeeper with PIN Login. Click Save Changes. Done! From now on, users will require their first factor (GateKeeper token) and their second factor (type their PIN) to login to their computer.
