GateKeeper USB Sensor Troubleshooting.
If your GateKeeper USB proximity sensor appears to suddenly stop working, please perform each of the following checks.
- Test 1: GateKeeper Client Software Test
- Test 2: Check the Windows Device Manager
If the USB proximity sensor fails each of the checks, please email our support team at support@gkaccess.com.
Test 1: GateKeeper Client Software Test
The GateKeeper Client software will display the number of Bluetooth sensors currently in use. If your computer has a compatible built-in Bluetooth sensor (Windows 10 only), the default value will be 1.
1. Insert the GateKeeper USB proximity sensor into an available USB port.
2. Open the GateKeeper Client app.
3. The BLE Counter at the top of the Client app will show the exact number of functioning USB sensors currently in use.
**If the computer's internal Bluetooth sensor is compatible with GateKeeper, the counter will show 1 more than the number of USB sensors plugged in. So if you have 1 USB proximity sensor and your PC has internal Bluetooth, the counter should read 2.
4. If the counter does not equal the number of USB sensors plugged into the computer, move the USB sensor to a different USB port.
5. If the counter still does equal the number of USB sensors plugged into the computer, move to Test 2.
Test 2: Check the Windows Device Manager
The Windows Device Manager will list every functioning USB proximity sensor connected to Windows.
1. Insert the USB proximity sensor into an available USB port.
2. Click the Windows Key and type Device Manager in the blank field.
3. In the Device Manager window, expand Ports (COM & LPT). For every GateKeeper USB proximity sensor recognized by the computer, TI CC2540 USB CDC Serial Port (COM #) will appear.
4. If you don't see Ports (COM & LPT) listed, remove the USB sensor and insert it into a different USB port.
5. If Ports (COM & LPT) does not appear in the Device Manager window, please contact our support team at support@gkaccess.com.
For any additional questions or concerns regarding proximity login, computer locking, credential management, or compliance, please contact GateKeeper Enterprise support using the Support Ticket form on https://gkaccess.com/support/ or email info@gkaccess.com.
