How to make the computer lock faster when leaving.
- Open your GateKeeper Client application on your PC by pressing the Windows key on your keyboard and start typing "GateKeeper".
- Move the Lock dial right to decrease the lock range (locks sooner). Now your computer lock faster when you leave. The default lock setting is 25. Try moving the bar to between 40-50.
Other features for adjusting the range to lock closer.
Solution: Adjust Signal Quality Bias setting.
The Signal Quality Bias Factor is an advanced feature for adjusting the unlock and lock distance on the GateKeeper client software. Add a bias to signal quality to prevent computers from locking while you are working. This setting can be adjusted in the Client or Hub software.
A positive bias improves signal quality, while a negative bias reduces it. If the signal quality is too low, add a positive bias. If it is too high, add a negative bias.
Directions to access Signal Quality Bias Factor feature option:
1. Open your GateKeeper Client application.
2. Click Settings.
3. Click Lock Settings.
4. Scroll down and click Signal Quality Bias Factor.
5. Add a bias to signal quality to prevent computers from locking while you are working. This setting can be adjusted in the Client or Hub software.
A positive bias improves signal quality, while a negative bias reduces it. If the signal quality is too low, add a positive bias. If it is too high, add a negative bias. So if your computer is locking while you're working, select +10 or +5. If your computer is not locking fast enough, select -10 or -5.
Solution: Inactivity Lock Method.
Inactivity Lock Method will lock the computer if the user is inactive for the specified time. Use Lock Workstation if you are the only user and Disconnect Session if multiple people use this computer.
Solution: Token Visibility Timeout setting.
The computer will lock if signal is abruptly lost (no data packets are received) with the token within this Token Visibility Timeout period. This typically happens when the token moves away too fast or the user may be blocking the signal with their body.
Solution: Lock Delay Timeout setting.
GateKeeper will delay locking the computer after a lock decision has been made for this Lock Delay Timeout period. Choose a value for this delay if you want to prevent the computer from locking immediately when you walk away. Or, set to zero if you wish to lock as soon as possible.
Important: This lock delay will only apply when the computer is locked due to proximity.
Solution: Motion Detection Sensitivity setting.
GateKeeper is designed to know when a user is walking away. Set to "High" to lock sooner.
Different environments produce different results for the locking and unlocking distance. A closed office with more walls will result in quicker locking while open-area offices will require more distance to lock. If you would like your computer to lock sooner, please open your GateKeeper desktop application and on the Dashboard, adjust the lock level.
If your computer did not lock because your token disconnected, please make sure that your token is turned on. If you are using your phone as your token, make sure your Bluetooth is turned on and that the Trident app is also turned on and running in the foreground.
If your GateKeeper is connected and the computer is not locking, please open your GateKeeper Client desktop application, go to Settings tab and under "Lock Settings", click the dropdown next to Proximity Lock Method.
Make sure your Proximity Lock Setting is NOT set to "Disabled" and instead, "Lock Workstation" should be selected.
Solution: Move your USB sensor further back
An easy way to artificially lock the computer sooner is to increase the distance between the user's token and the USB proximity sensor. Place the sensor further back (but not obstructed) from where the token will be on the user. Or face the USB slightly away from the direction of the token. This will result in the computer locking sooner. But be careful to maintain line of sight between the computer's USB sensor and the user's token to ensure no unintended lock events while the user is working on the computer.
